divas2.png

A scholarship has been created to honor Hilary Andrews' name to support women who may have financial difficulties paying for their $150 Divas membership. Hilary was an original Diva who passed away suddenly in 2014. Her family set the initial scholarship in motion with the first $500 donation to help more women find joy in riding their bikes.

If you are, or know of, a woman who wants to ride with the Divas but may need financial assistance, fill out this application form by March 21st (or share the form with them!). To access the form, click the button below.

Those who wish to help may donate any amount here. This fund honors Hilary's passion for cycling and her lasting legacy.

Hilary Kay Andrews

In the spring of 2013, Hilary walked from her office in downtown Tulsa to Lee's Bicycles and bought an entry-level bike that would change her life. That day, she discovered the Tulsa cycling community and became friends with Carol Bush, one of the original founders of The Saint Francis Tulsa Tough Divas' Program. Carol encouraged Hilary to join the Divas and train for the upcoming Gran Fondos.

Hilary learned bike handling skills and simple bike maintenance with the SFTT Divas and developed a passion for cycling. Hilary's abilities grew quickly: ten-mile rides grew into 20, then 30... and soon after, Hilary completed the Medio (55-62 miles) Gran Fondo ride. By the following year, Hilary was riding 100-mile events.

Hilary and the early Divas supported and encouraged each other by attending cycling events. They began calling each other to set up weekend rides. By the end of Year One, Hilary was enthusiastically recruiting the next class of Divas by sharing her accomplishments, friendships, and passion for cycling.

Hilary was 35 years old when she passed suddenly on December 25, 2014, from a brain aneurysm. She had been a Diva for two years, leaving a heavy mark on the Tulsa cycling community. Her memory carries on in the hearts of today's Divas. Hilary's life was enhanced through her association with the Divas, both physically and socially. She was fun to ride with, had a big laugh, and a smile that welcomed all into her circle. This fund honors Hilary's unwavering encouragement of other riders and helps new riders discover what Hilary did: the joy of cycling.
