FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: What time does the Williams Townie start?

A: The Williams Townie starts at 2:15 PM. Please be in line no later than 1:55 PM. The start will be coordinated with a break in the criterium racing, meaning all Williams Townie riders will be routed onto the race course. Plan for the time you will take to get your vehicle around closed streets, parked, and unloaded.

Q: Where is the Williams Townie located?

A: The Williams Townie Start/Finish is located at Galveston Ave. on Riverside Drive. Refer to the course map above for a detailed view of the Start/Finish, or click here.

Q: How will I find my way while riding?

A: All routes are marked on the street surface or with signs. We expect a good turnout for the Williams Townie, so there should be plenty of riders around you. A police escort will be at the start of the ride, and there will be ride officials on bicycles to help make sure everyone has a safe ride and stays on course.

Q: How fast will we go?

A: This is not a race. You may choose the pace that suits your ride. Please remember that you'll be riding with many other people of all abilities and that everyone has a right to go their own pace. Don't weave in and out of the other riders or cut people off. If you must pass, move to the lefthand side of the rider ahead and announce "on your left" to go around. NEVER cross the centerline of the street, and ALWAYS be respectful of other riders!

Q: What if I have a flat tire or other bike trouble? What if I can't finish?

A: We will have SAG drivers along the route to help you get your bike going again or take you and your bike back to the Start/Finish. We encourage you to take your time and ride within your own limits. The best way to complete a bicycle ride is to keep moving. Stopping and starting makes it harder to finish because you're continually warming up and cooling down. If the going gets tough, slow down and keep a steady pace. If you can't go on, move yourself and your bike off of the street. A SAG driver will be along shortly to assist you. Wave them over for assistance. We'll have first aid personnel at the Start/Finish area who can help should medical assistance be necessary.

Q: Is there a rest stop along the route?

A: Yes! The rest stop is located at Phat Tire on 2nd St. between Elgin and Frankfort, about halfway through the ride. There will be light refreshments available. If you need to, stop and rest for a minute before heading back out onto the course.

Q: What if I'm late?

A: The Williams Townie starts promptly at 2:15 PM. Please be in the Williams Townie staging area no later than 1:55 PM. The Saint Francis Tulsa Tough criterium races will pause for the start of the Williams Townie ride. At the start of the ride, Williams Townie riders will be escorted down the race course and under the Williams Townie Start/Finish banner. If you arrive late to the Williams Townie start, you must ride on the River Trail off of Riverside Drive to Southwest Boulevard where you'll turn right and join the Williams Townie ride route.

Q: Where's the start line?

A: The Williams Townie start line is just south of Galveston Ave. and Riverside Drive, near the Williams Townie registration table. All Williams Townie riders will stage themselves facing north on Riverside behind the Start/Finish banner.

Q: What about parking?

A: There is ample parking between 15th and 18th, Boulder and Cheyenne. You may park on the side streets or in an open parking lot. Anticipate a short walk with your family and their bikes to the Williams Townie start line.
